My hope for life beyond the grave
lies not in deeds that I have done
but in the power of saving grace
that comes by faith in God’s own Son.
My life is safe within God’s hand,
my heart is cleansed with Jesus’ blood,
and now within his grace I stand
full of his Spirit and his love.
My hope is Jesus’ perfect life,
his righteousness applied to me;
my hope is his atoning death,
his sacrifice on Calvary;
my hope is in his empty tomb,
his resurrection brings me life;
my ev’ry hope is anchored to the love of Christ.
And when my mortal days are done
I will not fear what lies beyond,
With confidence in Christ I’ll run
into the outstretched arms of God.
